Music on the Mississippi - March 1st

Dear Friends of the Slidell Symphony Society,

Join us for this year’s Spring concert on a musical cruise down the mighty Mississippi River on Saturday, March 1st. Our program is in cooperation with the Historic New Orleans Collection and Louisiana ImagePhilharmonic Orchestra.

The program is as follows:

 8:00 p.m. Concert featuring Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, with
   conductor Carlos Miquel Prieto, violinist Ariana Kim,
   soprano Jane Redding, and actor/historian mikko

Journey through time on a musical voyage down the Mississippi River with collaboration between the Historic New Orleans Collection and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. The LPO will perform a program featuring composers and pieces inspired by the mighty Mississippi. The program’s selections span the 18th through 20th centuries and include Jean-Philippe Rameau’s rarely heard Les Indes galantes, a concerto by Henri Vieuxtemps, operatic arias from Robert le Diable and Lucia di Lammermoor, and selected works from Showboat by Jerome Kern. The program is preceded by a pre-concert lecture on steamboat life. Please fill out the attached form and send your contribution in the enclosed envelope. Your contribution will provide Northshore families an opportunity to enjoy this very special philharmonic performance. Slidell Symphony Society is a 501C3 charitable organization and has provided musical informances to over 2,000 students this fall and has three additional scheduled performances through Lollipop, fifth grade and high school age groups in March and April.
